Egyptian Limestone Slab
Egyptian Stele, 2nd Intermediate period, 13 – 17th Dynasty, circa 1715 – 1500 B.C., measuring 20 1/2″ high x 12″ wide, belonging to a man named Sobek-em-bat, born of woman called Hapy, the deceased holding a lotus flower, is standing in profile to left in front of a variety of offerings. A female figure holding a lotus flower seated below in left corner, about four line of hieroglyphic inscription containing an offering formula. Mounted on a wooden base. Horizontal crack near the base, restored. Provenance: Sotheby’s, London Auction 14 Jul 1987, Lot 133.
